“Following his visit to the Arts Club last September festival, Richard Trethewey is returning to Launch his new EP “Richard Gendall’s Cornish Protest Songs”. This EP comprises of two songs previously released by Brenda Wootton but then two songs written by Gendall but neverpreviously recorded or released. Whilst written over 50 years ago, these songs deal with some of the topics that are making headline news now, from Cornish families struggling to find a home due to the amount of second homes to over fishing of Cornish waters, Gendall’s songs almost seem prophetic. Richard ends the EP with a reworking of his own song ‘Smoking Chimneys’ adding verses reflecting of Gendall’s songs and Richard’s own take on them. Richard will be joined by cellist Kath Buckler and singer Sam Stephens who both appear on the EP. There may be some other talented friends too!”
